Brief: SoMazi was asked to review global operations at BBC Worldwide and identify how social media could be integrated into current systems and platforms, to look into ways of monetising their social media activities, improving internal and external audience engagement and assisting in the move towards a social enterprise.
Working alongside BBC Worldwide’s Social VP, his global team, external agencies and technology companies, we achieved the following.
- Created a global KPI index for social media across all BBC Worldwide properties and established stakeholder, CMO and brand owner support.
- Streamlined and amplified social media approach through technology reviews, sourcing and negotiation, which reduced supply chain costs; then trained staff to use these publishing, monitoring, global content calendar and content repository tools to get the most from them.
- Monetisation of social media channels through high-level mapping of commercial opportunities and developing a roadmap with key stakeholders to achieve these commercial and financial results.
