Senior HR Director
Ex Barclay’s & Unilever
Karel began his career as a lawyer specialising in international tax law, with Deloitte in the UK and the Netherlands. After finding that many of his corporate clients seemed to be even more concerned with their people problems than their tax bills, he broadened out into the HR consulting practice of Deloitte. In 1997 he switched careers from consulting to corporate life and moved to Switzerland.
During the last 15 years Karel has held a variety of roles in M&A, compensation & benefits, change and integration management as well as large scale international HR business leadership roles. He has experience in FMCG, B2B, B2C and Financial Services sectors, in organisations like Cadbury Schweppes, Unilever and Barclays Bank. In these roles, he has led major business transformation and culture change programs.
Over the course of his career, Karel has worked on every continent and lived in quite a few countries with his wife and three young children. The novelty of moving countries is wearing off and therefore the Leeflang family is currently in the process of moving back to the home base in Geneva, Switzerland.
